According to research conducted by Emporia at the Table (EAT), around 45% of college students experience food insecurity. Their research further indicated that in Lyon County, Kansas 13.5% of residents were considered food insecure as of 2017, which is above average for other counties of similar population (EAT Initiative, 2019).

The Project

Although still relatively new, Emporia at the Table provides the residents of Emporia with resources to combat food insecurity. I have developed a mobile application and website so that students and community members may easily access to EAT’s resources. This page provides my detailed experience working on this project throughout the Spring 2020 semester.
